About Jody...
Joan "Jody" Zacharias graduated from the four-year Delman/Questel Sonoma FELDENKRAIS Training Program (2003). She is qualified to teach Awareness Through Movement® classes as well as give individual lessons in Functional Integration®.
Prior to her training as a Guild Certified FELDENKRAIS Practitioner cm, Jody had a professional life
in the field of body language. As a Certified (Laban) Movement Analyst, she taught that as she worked with other faculty to form an education center, the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New York City. She served as this institute’s founding executive director until she went on to shift her focus to observing managers from the Laban/Lamb perspective. As a management consultant, she worked here and in England directing clients to positions benefiting from their strengths.
Finding her own strengths in counseling rather than consulting, Jody was in the process of finishing her Masters Degree in Social Work from Columbia University when she developed Multiple Sclerosis. After seeing four physical therapists who seemed to make no difference, she turned to her community to gain referrals. It was during the first session with her the fifth physical therapist that Jody felt a restoration: this physical therapist, also a Feldenkrais Practitioner, was able to help her body to feel connected. Instead of feeling as if her body were in pieces, she, again, was able to experience her body as a whole. This was so stunning that eventually she had to study this work and joined the training program from which she has, appreciatively, graduated.
